Show Review: You (A Netflix Original Series)

Hey, all you out there in Cyberspace!

Today I have an all-new show to review for you.

You is another one of those Netflix Original shows that pop up in your recommendations and you aren't really sure about. The show follows a man named Joe who meets a girl named Beck in the book shop that he works in. Instantly he falls for her, but shortly after their interaction is over. Joe then begins to stalk Beck and try to learn everything he can about her. After following her closely and trying to learn more about her, he finds her in danger and he saves her, acting as though his presence is a coincidence. They then finally reconnect in a way where she can see him too. Over time, they start to grow a relationship.

I have only seen the first episode so far and I am really liking it. I love the fact that it is from the point of view of the stalker. It is interesting to see the darker side of humanity even if it is fictional. That was one of the huge draws of shows like Dexter and End of the F**king World (another Netflix Show). The show so far is really well done, and the characters are really thought out.

All in all, I give this show so far 4.5 of 5 hearts.

I am at a point where I am dying to get to the next episode, but I had to pause it so I could focus on writing. I highly recommend this show so far and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. The only thing I would change about the show is that I think that they tried to cram an episode and a half worth of stuff into a single episode. I feel like some of the parts deserved a bit more time on them. Aside from that, the show was amazing and it was totally the kind of show I can see myself binging.

I hope you all enjoy it and if you watch this show, let us know what you think in the comments!

Movie Review: One Small Hitch

Hey all you out there in Cyberspace!!!

As you all know, I am a huge sucker for chick flicks. Lately I have been binge-watching a lot of them so many more reviews should becoming your way soon. This time around I watched a movie called One Small Hitch:

One Small Hitch is a movie that follows Josh and Molly (two childhood friends) as they return home for Molly's Mother's wedding. Just before the flight, they discover that Josh's father is sick with terminal cancer. As he tells his son over the phone of his newfound condition, he confesses that it was always his dream to see Molly and Josh end up together. Naturally, as best friends Molly and Josh had been opposed to the idea of dating for years, not wanting to ruin their friendship. However, they devise a plan to appease his father's dying wish and pretend to be engaged.

After returning home and telling their family and friends of their engagement things begin to spiral out of control. Their families rush to try and create wedding plans for the young couple, leaving them overwhelmed. But before long, they begin to relax in their roles as fake fiances and grow to know each other on much deeper levels. Will they fall in love, or will theor entire relationship remain only for show?

All in all I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. When I first started to watch it I thought it wasn't going to be that great because the beginning was a bit slow. However, after the first fifteen minutes the movie picked up to such a quick pace I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the next part. At the beginning of the movie I found both Josh and Molly a bit hard to relate to. They seemed like a standard idea for a couple in a romance movie as if checking off boxes on a list, but they didn't really seem to connect with each other.

As the movie progressed, we began to see a whole new side of the duo that completely made their relationship not only believable, but also relatable. My only wish is that their connection with each other was a bit more visible in the beginning, it didn't seem like there was enough of a connection between the two. It almost seemed as if he hadn't thought of her at all, not even as his friend's sister.

If they had a bit more chemistry with one another or the characters were a bit stronger in the beginning and not just the end, this movie would have gotten a five of five heart containers. In the end, despite that one little thing, I highly recommend this movie and I hope you all get a chance to see it.

Geekerella by Amy Poston

Hey all you out there in Cyberspace,

As those of you who follow our Facebook page know, I absolutely  love to read and I go through books like water. Growing up I was always drawn to more Sci-fi and Fantasy type stories which brings us to the book I'd like to share with you today, Geekerella by Amy Poston:

Geekerella by Amy Poston manages to embody all of the hopes and dreams I had as a young lover of Sci-fi. It's one of those stories that remind you to have hope when things seem unlikely. It shows you that it is possible to dream when all you seem to have are nightmares.

The book follows a young girl, Elle, who lives with her stepmother and two "evil" stepsisters. Her only escape is when she has a moment to cling to an old Sci-fi television show called Starfield that her parents used to watch. Her parents were even brought together by their love of the show.

When it is announced that they will be turning her favorite show into a movie, she is ecstatic. She had been drawn to the main character nearly all her life and was anxious to see him come to life on the big screen. However when she finds out that the lead role will be played by a teenage soap opera star, Darien, her excitement for the new movie begins to fade. She retreats to her blog to divulge all of her opinions and thoughts about him as the new captain on Starfield.

After the announcement, Elle plans to enter a cosplay costume contest at a Sci-fi convention (founded by her late father) without the knowledge of her stepmother. The grand prize is free tickets to Los Angeles and passes to another event. She plans to stay out there after the event and sees this as her one and only chance at escaping the grasp of her stepmother.

In secret, Elle and Darien begin communicating with each other, without an idea of who the other is. Will she be able to overcome her aversion to him playing her beloved "Comindor"? Will he be able to get past all of the terrible things she said about him on her blog? Will they ever find out that they have been communicating with eachother as pen pals all along?

These were all questions I had as I began reading this book, and they were all answered and left me still wanting more. Amy Poston does a wonderful job of creating wonderful relatable characters that make you want to laugh and cry and just feel everything that they are feeling in the moment. It's very hard to find that kind of connection with characters, and I can honestly say that I have found that with each and every one of her books.

The only thing that I would change if I could was the second half of the book transpired. So much had happened leading up to the second half and then I feel like it was all over too quickly. I wish that we had more time with Elle and Darien as characters. All together I give this book 4.5 of 5 heart containers and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Sci-fi and fairy tales with a modern twist.
I've even started rereading it for a second time as we speak.

I hope all of you get the opportunity to check out this book and if you have any story or movie recommendations for us to review, please either send us a Tweet at #CordeliasCommentaries, email us at CordeliaCrossBlog@gmail.com, messsage us on Facebook, or leave a comment on this post.

Have a nice night everyone, and happy reading!
